Hudson Still

Hudson Still, age 74, passed away Monday evening, September 25, 2017 at his home in Water Valley, MS. There will be a memorial service held celebrating the life of Hudson on Thursday, Septmeber 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Reverend Martin Case will officiate. Hudson was born March 8, 1943 to the late James Vardaman "Buck" and Mary Hortense Hudson Still in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1961 and furthered his education at Ole Miss, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1965, and a Masters Degree in School Administration.  Hudson had a special love for Nascar and attended many races at Talladega Super Speedway. He deeply cared for the people of Batesville and was passionate about his City and the growth of the community. Hudson served as City Alderman and Alderman-At-Large from 1985 until retirement from the office in 2005. He was a former Vice Mayor for the City of Batesville, former President of the Batesville Rotary Club, former President of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, and former President of the Panola Country Club. Hudson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Batesville and served in the MS National Guard. His loving family that survive him include his wife, Susan H. Still of Water Valley; his children, Lee Still (Carey) of Germantown, TN, and Matt Still (Kyle) of Oxford, MS; his brothers, Steve Still (Sandra) of Quebec City, Quebec Canada and David Still (Esther) of Tacoma, WA; 4 grandchildren, Mary Katherine Still, Lee Hudson Still, III, Banks Still and Andrew Still. In addition to his parents, Hudson is preceded in death by one sister, Dr. Jimmie Carol Durr.
