Hester Louise Bailey, 90, went to her heavenly home, Sunday, April 7, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, at 11 a.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Chaplain Eddie Randolph will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at Arbor Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 883 County Road 93, Houston, MS at 3 p.m.
Hester was born July 2, 1928, in Chickasaw City to the late Cecil Vanlandingham and Ethel Callihan. She attended Egypt High School in Egypt, MS. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Sardis, MS. She was a former restaurant owner for 10 years of the Salad Bowl in Memphis, TN, owner of The Crossroads, The Kettle and The GTL, all in Sardis, MS.
Her passion was bowling that she enjoyed for over 50 years. She enjoyed going to the “boats” to play the slot machines, playing dominos with family and friends, and enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include one son, Kevin (Jodi) Bailey of Batesville, MS; one daughter, Gail (Jeff) Clark of Bartlett, TN; nine grandchildren, Sonja Smith, Monica Delaney, Micah Roberts, Erin Martin, Corri Stanley, Ronnie Helms, Kayla Helms, TJ Talley, and Angie Romero; great grandson, Kaden Martin, whom she called “handsome man” had a special place in her heart; she had 21 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Inez Vanlandingham, whom she adored; nephews, Barry and Ronnie Vanlandingham, and many more special nephews, nieces, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, two sisters, and a brother.
