Harl "Bud" O'Neal

Harl "Bud" O'Neal, age 97, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2018, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, MS. Mr. O'Neal is the widower of the late Mabel Aldison O'Neal.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge, MS with interment to follow in Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw, MS with military honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 9, 2018, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home. 

Bud was born September 19, 1920 in Sledge, MS to the late William Dudley and Mary Etta Peeples O'Neal. He was a retired farmer and member of Hollywood Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. Bud honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II, and he was a 32nd degree Mason.

Bud's legacy will live on through his son, Jimmy Hal O'Neal (Martha) of Jayess, MS; sister, Laura Sue O'Neal; brother, Iven Bruce O'Neal of Hernando, MS; daughter-in-law, Connie O'Neal of Senatobia; five grandchildren, Rusty Hales of Clarksdale, MS, Shannon O'Neal Lipscomb of Como, MS, Trey O'Neal of Sardis, MS, Jason O'Neal of Madison, MS, Tyler O'Neal of Mendenhall, MS and eight great-grandchildren.

Other than his wife and parents, Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy O'Neal Hales and a son, Harl "Little Bud" O'Neal, Jr.
