Gerald Rothwell "Jerry" Johnson, age 81, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Methodist University Hospital North in Memphis, TN.

A graveside service for Jerry will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 22, 2021 at Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw, MS.

Jerry was born October 19, 1939 in Thyatira, MS to the late Isaiah and Bessie Jeffords Johnson. He was raised in Crenshaw and graduated from Marks High School in Marks, MS. He honorably served in the United State Air Force and was stationed in Myrtle Beach, SC. Jerry was the owner of Mid-South Filters in Memphis, TN and worked well beyond his retirement years. He self described himself as "just a plain ole Mississippi sawmill country boy". To his family, he was a generous man full of stories and jokes who enjoyed spending time with family and fishing.

Others than his parents his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Frances Daugherty; brothers, Charles, Jessie and Hoyt Johnson.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lenora Hush Johnson of Millington, TN; four children, Jeani McDowell (Jeff) of Brighton, CO, Bonnie Bruno of Memphis, TN, Janiece McNichols (Chris) of Littleton, CO, and Anthony Johnson of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Lindsay Kittila, Jason McDowell, Daniel McNichols, Dylan Bruno, Scarlett Johnson and Rebekah Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Wieland of Eads, TN and numerous other family members.
