George Edgar Wilson, Jr.

George Edgar Wilson, Jr. age 85, passed away at Methodist Hospital Germantown on May 15, 2017. He is the husband of Betty Wilson of Bartlett, TN, formerly of Pope. Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00. Committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Forrest Hill Cemetery - Midtown, Memphis TN. Rev. Derrick Simmons will officiate. George was born December 29, 1931 to the late George Edgar Wilson, Sr. and Annie Lou Baker Wilson in Memphis, TN. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. George was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and the Panola Masons Lodge #66. During his lifetime he worked as a welder and machinist for Humko Company in Memphis. Humko was acquired by Kraft Foods where George continued to work until retirement. Those he leaves behind to cherish his precious memory include his wife, Betty Jean Strauser Wilson of Pope MS.; his children, Joyce Wilson Rutledge of Bartlett, TN., Andy Wilson of Piperton, TN., and Tommy Wilson of Woodruff, S.C.; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his brother, Francis Wilson.
