George Hunter Pratt, Sr., age, 92, passed away at his home in Batesville on June 1, 2023.
Funeral services will be held a 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Batesville. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope, MS.
Hunter was born March 14, 1931 to the late James and Viola Deaton Pratt in Pope, MS. He dutifully served his country in the US Army from 1953 to 1956. Hunter received an Agriculture Degree from Mississippi State University. He worked as a supervisor for ANR Pipeline Co. After retirement, Hunter enjoyed traveling with his brothers and camping. He was a proud member of the Air Stream Group. He adored his family and loved to follow his grandchildren’s sporting events and special occasions in their lives. He was an active member of Batesville First Baptist Church.
The family who will cherish his loving memory includes his wife, Judy Tidwell Pratt of Batesville; two sons, George Pratt and his wife Edye of Batesville, Greg Pratt of Richardson, TX.; four grandchildren, Thom Hunter Pratt and his wife Molly, Jeana Margaret Pratt Norton and her husband Jordan, Hunter Alan Pratt, Yancey Ann Pratt; four great grandchildren, Gray Norton, Ella Norton, Hunt Norton, and Parker Pratt.
In addition to his parents, Hunter was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of George and Greg, Eleanor Day Pratt; three brothers, James R. Pratt, Larry Joe Pratt, Sr., and Martin Lee Pratt.
