Genevieve Hoholic Gigler

October 24, 1914 — January 30, 2019

Mrs. Genevieve Hoholic Gigler, age 104, passed away peacefully at Providence Assisted living in Batesville on January 30, 2019. She was the widow of Harry Gigler of Columbus. 

A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Genevieve was born October 24, 1914 in Manistique, MI. to the late Andrew Hoholic and Mary Sayer Hoholic. She had a large loving family consisting of 11 siblings. Genevieve and her husband Harry owned The Diamond Shop in Columbus, MS. for many years. Both being jewelers, they enjoyed traveling for work to New Orleans, Chicago and New York to meet with other artist in their trade. Genevieve was a true southern lady, although she was born in the north, she became a gracious hostess. She assisted many brides in her day with their registries. Jewelry being her passion, pearls were her favorite. She found great joy in tending to her precious rose garden. She was a devout Catholic and communicant of Annunciation Catholic Church in Columbus, MS. Genevieve was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an angel to those who knew and cared for her and she will be greatly missed. 

The loving family she leaves behind include her grand daughter, Karen Marie Guckert of Memphis, TN.; grandson, Harry Guckert (Stephanie) of Batesville; and 2 great grandchildren, Bailey Guckert (Julianna) of Batesville and Caroline Guckert also of Batesville. 

The family would like to thank the staff and Providence Assisted Living for the loving care they provided through the years and Southern Care Hospice for the peace they provided her at the end of her long beautiful journey.
