Gene Wallis, age 83, passed away Friday afternoon, May 1, 2020, at his home in Batesville, MS.
A graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2020, at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. These services will be streamed live on the Wells Funeral Home Facebook Page and an uploaded video will be provided on this page Tuesday for those wishing to watch.
Gene was born October 20, 1936 in Baldwyn, MS to the late Isom Milton and Flora Allen Wallis. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville, MS where he served as a deacon. Gene was a longtime loan officer and Vice-President of First Security Bank in Batesville, MS. He was also an active member of the Batesville Exchange Club. He and his wife both loved to travel and Gene always took great pride in working in his vegetable garden and making sure their yard was always pristine.
Gene's loving and caring memory will be cherished by his wife of over sixty years, Kate Sides Wallis of Batesville, MS; two daughters, Shelia Wallis Golden (Johnny) of Batesville, MS, Sandy Wallis Karpinski (Dan) of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, David Wallis (Tammy) of Batesville, MS; two sisters, Mary Edith Wallis Ham of Baldwyn, MS, Nancy Wallis Carpenter of Tupelo, MS; seven grandchildren, Davlynn Meek, Jonathan Cobb, Shea Garner, Sean Gray, Jesse Rogers, Ashley McNeese, Erica Lomax and a host of great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Nell Wallis.
