Gaylon "Al" Lee Childers, age 72, passed away March 20, 2018, in Redbanks, MS. He was the husband of the late Mary Childers.
Gaylon was born May 5, 1945 in Ashland, MS to the late Eulala Gross and Loyce Lee Childers. During his lifetime he was an appliance technician and a truck driver. He enjoyed going to truck rodeos and riding motorcycles. In his earlier life, he enjoyed riding horses and participating in horse shows. He also loved guns, traveling in his RV, and all his animals, especially his dogs. Gaylon also served in the Army for 18 months. He was a loving father and grandfather, and spoiled his grandchildren every chance he got. Many people would say, "He was the best man that ever lived."
He is survived by his daughter, Tawnya Childers of Memphis, TN; step-daughter, April Feathers of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Kristena Pannell (Kyle) of Caledonia, MS, Wesley Beach of Lake Cormorant, MS, Michael Betterton of Belzoni, MS, Kayla Chamberlain of Memphis, TN, Brittney Feathers, and Samantha Feathers both of Memphis, TN; five great grandchildren, Kaydence Grace Pannell, Kylee Jean Pannell, Gavin Feathers, Skylar and Mckenzie Chamberlain; Ex-wife, Kathy Childers of Memphis, TN.
Along with his wife, Mary Childers, and his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Childers, and his second wife, Bonnie Childers; his sister, Mary Nell Mayhall; three brothers, Bobby C. Childers, Kimble Wayne Childers, and Niles Metford Childers.
The family will hold a private memorial gathering at a later date.
