Livestream of Funeral Service Frank Laster, age 73, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 at his home in Batesville, MS surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Mr. Frank will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. The interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park with military honors. Frank was born on July 26, 1949 to the late Leo Frankie Laster and Mary Magaline Dunn Laster in Quitman County, MS. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and worked as a park ranger for the Corp of Engineer for 35 years. Frank honorably served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated marine, receiving the Purple Heart medal, the bronze star medal, combat action ribbon, Vietnamese service medal, and several other awards. Frank was a devote Mississippi State bulldog fan, and enjoyed watching football games, whether it was the bulldogs or his grandchildren playing. He had a special love for his grandchildren and loved supporting them. Frank was of the Baptist faith and was recently a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Frank’s faith, and his love and compassion for life and his family was never wavered. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family he leaves behind includes his wife, Linda Laster of Batesville, MS; three children, Frankie Laster (Kirsten) of Pennsylvania, Becky Brummett (Craig) of Batesville, MS, and James Ryan Laster (Misty) of Madison, MS; three sisters, Carolyn Walker, Betty Robertson, and Barbara Burrell; three brothers, Paul Laster, Donald Joe Laster, and David Arnold Laster; and five grandchildren, Morgan Laster, Ben Laster, Lane Harper, Rainey Brummett, and Taylor Laster. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Flemons, Shirley Vance, and Ann Topper; and one brother, Billy Ray Laster.
