Evelyn G. Hester

Evelyn G. Hester, affectionally known as “GG”, age 91, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Panola Medical Center in Batesville, MS.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 6, 2019, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral home with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M.

GG was born January 1, 1928 in Calhoun County, MS to the late William and Elva Leo Percell Dixon. She worked many years as a nurse’s assistant but spent most of time raising and caring for her family. GG loved cooking, shopping and eating late night breakfast with her granddaughters. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Batesville, MS.

GG’s loving and caring memory will be cherished by her daughter, Rita Hester Cannon, and husband, Rev. Steve of Batesville, MS; six grandchildren, Jennifer Ramsey, Chad Ramsey, Vangi Cannon Taylor, Jason Benbrook, Kandi Cannon Tipton and Mauri Cannon Brown; fourteen great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Hester, and a son, Bobby Hester.
