Emmitt Robertson, Jr., age 89, passed away at home Friday morning, March 30, 2018.
He was the widow of the late Robbie Andrews Robertson.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2018 in the Martin Willingham
Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Magnolia
Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 P.M. Monday prior to
the service.
Emmitt was born May 2, 1928 in Lambert, MS to the late Emmitt and Gladys Wardlaw
Robertson. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church near Oxford, MS and
served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Emmitt’s father was a
WW1 Veteran. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Emmitt worked
multiple jobs in construction, manufacturing, shrimp boats in TX , office and security.
He retired at the age of 85 from his last job as a Security Officer at the State Veteran’s
Home in Oxford, MS. He loved his Lord Jesus with all his heart. He enjoyed long
conversations with family and friends, feeding his cats and wild life around his home
and meeting family and friends for a meal at the Oakland Catfish Restaurant.
Emmitt is survived by two sisters, Peggy Burns of Southhaven, MS, JoAnn Mitchell
of Pensacola, FL; four brothers, Terry Robertson of Kankakee, IL, Barney Robertson
of Enid, MS, Carroll Robertson of Lambert, MS, Rickey Robertson of Memphis, TN.
Other than his wife and parents, Emmitt was preceded in death by one brother,
Donald Robertson.
