Elsie Jean Wootten

Elsie J. Wootten, age 91, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS. She was the widow of the late Howard Wootten.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Wells Funeral Home from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. followed immediately by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis, MS.

Elsie Jean was born October 6, 1928 in Batesville, MS to the late Edward and Alice Hill Wilson. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Sardis, MS. Elsie Jean loved raising her family and having long talks with her friends on the phone.

Her loving memory will be cherished by her five daughters, Debbie Wootten Durrett (John) of Madison, MS, Lynn Wootten Brasher of Sardis, MS, Cindy Wootten Lloyd of Courtland, MS, Betty Kay Wootten Hale (Steve) of Batesville, MS, Lisa Wootten Morris (Tracy) of Batesville, MS; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Along with her husdand and parents, Elsie Jean was preceded in death by grandson, Richard Patrick and her son-in-law, Keith Hardy.
