Frances Elizabeth Moore Carter, age 87, passed away Thursday morning, September 26, 2019, at the Sardis Community Nursing Home in Sardis, MS.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 1, 2019, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sardis, MS. The family will be receiving friends, Monday evening, September 30, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home.
Elizabeth was born April 12, 1932 in Pope, MS to the late Chester Ray and Erma Katherine Brewer Moore. She was the retired activities director for the Batesville Job Corps. She had a loving and caring soul that loved sewing, quilting and working with her hands. She worked hard to make a good life for her family and continued to sew, fold clothes and rock babies even if it was only in her mind. Elizabeth was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Sardis, MS.
Her memory will be cherished by her four daughters, Frances Wood (Walter) of Germantown, TN, Angie King (Clifton) of Coldwater, MS, Joy Williams of Sardis, MS, Vivian Dover and her late husband Randolph of Sardis, MS; Ronnie Williams and his late wife, Brenda, of Pope, MS, Tommy Williams (Ann) of Sardis, MS; sister, Nancy O’Neal of Sardis, MS; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Carter; daughter, Gale Williams; two sisters, Bobbie Scruggs and Ila Joy King; one brother, Robert William “Sonny” Moore.
