Earlene Tucker Scruggs, age 86, passed away Friday morning, March 2, 2018, at her home in Batesville, MS.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, March 4, 2018, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis, MS. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Reverend Jim Scruggs will be officiating the services.
Earlene was born April 16, 1931 in Batesville, MS to the late Audie Earl and Vera Alice Newton Tucker. She was a wife and mother, and was the glue that held her family together. In her spare time, Earlene enjoyed many pastimes, including, sewing, cooking, gardening, reading her Bible, and working puzzles, just to name a few. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Sardis, MS.
Earlene is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Donald Scruggs of Batesville, MS; daughter, Brenda Scruggs Crowell (Dale) of Batesville, MS; two sons, Faron Scruggs (Liz) of Hernando, MS, Wayne Scruggs of Sardis, MS; sister, Elizabeth Avery of Batesville, MS; two grandchildren, Melody Crowell Pearson and Michelle Kuykendoll; two great-grandchildren, Mary Margaret Pearson and Daylien Kuykendoll.
Other than her parents, Earlene was preceded in death by her six brothers, Billy Tucker, David Tucker, Norwood Tucker, Carter Tucker, Raymond Tucker, and Don Tucker.
