Earl Wayne Capwell, age 83, passed away Saturday morning, April 27, 2019 at his home in Pope, MS.
Funeral services for Mr. Capwell will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Pope Baptist Church with interment to follow in Milton Brown Family Cemetery in Pope, MS. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Earl was born September 15, 1935 to the late Bertha Lou Lepard and Joseph Carl “Bass” Capwell in Camberg, Lafayette County, MS. During his lifetime he worked as a truck driver and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. A lot of people knew Mr. Capwell for his homemade pork skins. He was a man who never met a stranger and adored his grandchildren and family. He was a member of the Pope Baptist Church.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his loving memory include his adoring wife of 60 years, Billie Jean Brown Capwell of Pope, MS; his three sons, Ernie Capwell and wife Laci of Batesville, MS, Joey Capwell and wife Charlotte of Pope, MS, and Tony Capwell and wife Michelle of Pope, MS; his sister, Maxine Haynes of Memphis, TN; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Jeff Capwell.
