Dorothy Lee Wilson "Dottie" Wells, age 81, passed away in the early morning hours on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Azalea Assisted Living Home in Batesville, MS.

A celebration of Dottie's life will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 1, 2023 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with entombment at Forrest Memorial Park immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at Wells Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. 

Dottie was born the youngest of four daughters on November 21, 1941 in Dallas, TX to the late Harry Ernest "Ernie" and Luella Dowd Wilson. She was an active and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville, MS where she sang in the Chancel Choir. She received her BSN from Baylor University in Waco, TX. Dottie worked as head nurse in the surgery department at the former South Panola Community Hospital in Batesville, MS for over twenty years. She would later take a teaching position for Northwest Community College on their Oxford Campus to lead their surgical technology program until her retirement. Dottie had an inviting and contagious personality. She was very rarely seen without a smile on her face and always had a positive attitude all throughout life's turbulent times. Dottie was a lover of family, and she loved them with everything she had. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling from the words, "Let's Go".  Whether it was going to ballgames, the lake, beach, camping, or anything in between, Dottie was always ready for the next adventure.

Those that love her and cherish her memory most include her two sons, Thomas Locke Wells and his wife, Kris, of Tupelo, MS, Chris W. Wells and his wife, Heather; six grandchildren, Mackenzie Wells, Wesley Wells, Layton Wells, Emily Wells, Jensen Wells and Landry Wells.

Along with her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy K. Wells; three sisters, Amy Sue Wilson Gilby, Louanne Wilson Denney and Louise Wilson Staples.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Avenue, Batesville, MS 38606.
