Doris Elizabeth Lott Wright

March 19, 1933 — April 2, 2018

Doris Elizabeth Wright, age 85, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at her home near Sardis, MS.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 5, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Duck Hill, MS. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Reese Ward and Dr. Andy Brasher will be officiating the services. Mrs. Wright’s grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers, and they include: Will Lott, Harrison Luckett, Douglas Luckett, Brandon Smith, Matthew King, Denny Smith, Joey Lott, Richie King, and two honorary pallbearers, Peyton Selby and Aaron Anthony.

Doris was born March 19, 1933 in Lambert, MS to the late James Everett and Nellie Walker Finley. She was a retired homemaker and was a faithful and active member of Black Jack Baptist Church. Doris was an avid reader and active member of the karaoke group of Black Jack Baptist Church, where they would sing and witness to those individuals at local nursing homes. Most of all, she loved her family visits from not only her children but also her grandchildren.  

Mrs. Wright’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Sonny Wright of Sardis, MS; six daughters, Diane Smith of Sardis, MS, Nell King (Ricky) of Marks, MS, Mary Watford (Mickey) of Beaumont, MS, Carol Luckett (Jim) of Dublin, MS, Karen McNeal of Cordell, OK, Alisa Pingel (Carl) of Perryville, MO; three sons, Sam Lott (Teresa) of Batesville, MS, Tommy Lott (Camelia) of Marks, MS, Michael Wright of Cordell, OK; sister, Rosie Faye Goode of Lambert, MS; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Lott, Sr.; two sisters, Opal Jones, Lois Veazey and one brother, Everett Finley.
