Donald H. Wright, Sr.

Donald H. Wright, Sr., age 81, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Sardis Lake Baptist Church with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M. at the church. The family would like to encourage those attending to please wear a mask.

Donald was born September 16, 1939 in Panola County, MS to the late Henry Douglas and Grace Tubbs Wright. He was a member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church and had retired from the road department of MDOT. Donald was a lover of the outdoors while coon and deer hunting. He also took great pride working in his yard, but most of all, Donald loved being in church. Donald honorably served his country in the U.S. Marines.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Cook Wright; three sisters, Vanada Trammel, Hazel Jones, Alliene Vick; and one brother, Gene Wright (Ruth).

Those that will cherish his memory include, his two daughters, Linda Wright Murphree (Scootie) of Batesville, MS, Brenda Wright Beard (Ricky) of Batesville, MS; two sons, Kenny Wright (Susan) of Pearl, MS, Donald H. Wright, Jr. of Batesville, MS; five sisters, Jeanette Wright Smith of Batesville, MS, Judy Wright Pratt of Batesville, MS, Sylvia Wright Hadinger of Batesville, MS, Priscilla Wright Carter of Batesville, MS, Susan Wright Stevens of Batesville, MS; three grandchildren, Austin Wright, April Tindall (Charlie), Preston Murphree (Laura); two great-grandchildren, Lilly Grace Tindall and George Preston Murphree.
