Donald Davis, age 87, passed away on October 24, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Batesville Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening at the church. Interment will follow the service at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Jerry Long will officiate.
Donald was born October 12, 1932 to the late Thomas Jefferson Davis, Jr. and Lois Ozelle Hendrix Davis in Batesville, MS. Donald, a lifelong Batesville resident, was the owner of Davis Family Pharmacy, where he practiced and served the community since 1956, following graduation from the University of Mississippi pharmacy school. Donald had worked for the pharmacy since the age of 12 and this is where he found his love for pharmacy at an early age. Donald was a member of Mississippi State Pharmacy Association. He was a founding member of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce and a founding member of the Batesville Civitan Club. Donald was a member of Batesville Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. In his spare time, Donald raised black angus cows and also raised horses.
The loving family he leaves behind to cherish his precious memory include his wife of 67 years, Betty Gillespie Davis of Batesville; daughter, Dianne Davis Cummins (Larry) of Batesville; two sons, Donald Davis, Jr. of Batesville, and Dale Davis (Julie) of Oxford; five grandchildren, Michael Davis, Christopher Cummins, Adam Cummins, Kendal Davis, and LCpl. Ian Davis, USMC; two great grandchildren, Cera Jo Davis and Madison Davis.
