David Earl Mills, age 54, passed away Sunday morning, February 24, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.
Funeral services for David will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Sardis.
David was born February 17, 1965 to Alfred Earl Mills and the late Faye Hudson Mills in Batesville, MS. He proudly served his county in the US Army. David was a Lieutenant with the Panola County Sheriff’s Department. In his spare time, David enjoyed caring for his livestock and other animals. He was an avid hunter and liked shooting his guns for target practice. He also enjoyed going to flea markets and looking for finds. He loved to cook for his family. David was a Pittsburg Steelers fan. Most of all he cherished his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. David was the kind of man who always put others in front of himself. This made him an excellent Law Enforcement man and family man. His family referred to him as a “Mountain of a Man”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The loving family he leaves behind include his daughter, Heather Faye Mills of Oxford; 2 sons, Mark Lewis Mills, II of Batesville and Richard Earl Mills of Oakland; 2 sisters, Susan Griffis of Pope, and Kimberly Munoz of Batesville; his father, Alfred Earl Mills of Batesville; 3 grandchildren, Serenity Pritchard, Shane Mills and Kayden Mills.
