David E. Johns, age 68, passed away Friday evening, November 23, 2018, at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Funeral services for Mr. Johns will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park with military honors. 

David was born May 21, 1950 to the late Lemuel Maxwell and Frances Marie Houston Johns in Marks, MS. He proudly served his country in the U.S.  Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. David was retired from law enforcement where he was a K-9 officer for the Dept. of Corrections at Parchman Penitentiary.  David was a member of Locke Station Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, David is preceded in death by one son, David Maxwell Johns. He is survived by one son, Tracy Johns of Memphis, TN.; one daughter, Rhonda Lawson of Marks; two siblings, Johnny Johns of Crowder and Sissy Wilson of Hattiesburg; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
