Christine Bowles Stewart

Christine Bowles Stewart, age 81, passed away, November 1, 2018, at her daughter's home in Brandon, MS.

Funeral services for Christine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, with visitation beginning 1 hour prior to the service in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Raymond Aven will officiate.

Christine was born February 8, 1937, one of eight children to the late Alvis Bowles and Mattie West Bowles. Christine married Homer Newel Stewart the day before Christmas in 1959. Together they had 8 children. Christine retired from the South Panola School District where she worked as a librarian for the middle school. Christine went back to college during her career and received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi when she was 54 years young. Christine was a quilt maker and bird watcher, with hummingbirds being her favorite. She loved the outdoors. She had many golden retrievers that she adored. Being a librarian, of course, she was an avid reader. Christine was a member of New Hope Church of God.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her loving memory include her husband of 59 years, Homer Stewart of Courtland; children, Vivian McKlemurry (Rick) of Brandon, Tammy Roberts (Mike) also of Brandon, Rhonda Clark of Batesville, Victor Stewart (Cindy) of Natchez, Tim Stewart (Dawn) of Jasper, AR., and Chris Stewart of Nashville, TN.; 2 sisters, Ann McGregory of Batesville, and Ruby Turner of Water Valley; 11 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson, Asher Ethridge of Pope.

In addition to her parents, Christine is preceded in death by five brothers, Doug Bowles, Larry Bowles, Charlie Bowles, Edgar Bowles, and James Bowles.

The family would like to thank Pastor Raymond Aven and the New Hope Church of God for their hospitality and ministry to our family.
