Bro. Richard Mills, age 88, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Senatobia, MS.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Richard was born on July 27, 1936 in Hymera, Indiana to the late Raymond Earl Mills and Evelyn McClanahan Mills.
Richard worked as an engineer at Batesville American, where he served diligently for over two decades in Batesville, Mississippi. His professional life was complemented by his spiritual contributions, serving first as the assistant minister at Victory Baptist Church in Batesville before taking on the role of minister at Grace Baptist Church in Coldwater, where he led the congregation for six years. His leadership was characterized by compassion, wisdom, and a genuine care for the well being of his church family.
Beyond his professional and ministerial contributions, Richard lived a life rooted in simplicity and faith. He was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church in Senatobia, Mississippi, where his strong belief system was a guiding force in all his endeavors. His faith was not just a private matter but was evident in how he interacted with others throughout his life.
In addition to his contributions in the church and career, Richard honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
The family Richard leaves behind includes his wife, Patricia Ann Mills of Senatobia, MS; his children, Karl Mills (Gina) of Guntown, MS, Colleen Isbell (Tarey) of Atoka, TN, his step children, Holly Hall (Bryan) of Batesville, MS, and Tammy Reed (Mike) of Paragould, AR; one sister, Alisha Huffman of North Carolina; and one brother, Bill Mills of Indiana; his grandchildren, Whit, Chad, Chesley, Jonathan, Jared (Amanda), Kari (Cole), Kaleb (Heidi), Kevin (Courtney), Kyle (Dorothy), Kristan (Michael), Abby, Nikki, his step grandchildren Malerie, Michael, Mary, John, Tyler, Paxton, and Hayden; and his great grandchildren, Fields, Ellie Jo, Swayzee, Bryton, Kaylee, Chloe, Hunter, Remi, Gunner, Isaac, Madelyn, Jaxon, Julie, Janie, Ella, Darcie, Joel, Adaline, his step great grandchildren Gatlin, Briar, Ridge, Rory, Ryker, and Mary-Hayden.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marty Mills, his daughters, Denise Tidwell (Joe) and Janice Still (Dennis) and one sister, Shirley Brown.
