Donald "Bo" Mathews, Jr., age 59, passed away Friday morning, May 14, 2021 at the Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 16, 2021, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow in Cold Springs Cemetery near Sardis, MS. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M.

Bo was born April 11, 1962 in Memphis, TN to the late Donald and Gertie Louise O’Conner Mathews. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville, MS and worked as a Dispatcher for the Panola County Sheriff’s Department. Bo loved people, but most of all, he loved children. He was affectionately known by many as “Santa” in the community. Bo was always jokester and a hard worker. He enjoyed being outside working in his yard and cutting grass.

Bo’s loving family that will cherish his memory include, his wife, Cathy McClure Mathews of Batesville, MS; daughter, Nikki Mathews of Batesville, MS; two sons, Scott Mathews of Chattanooga, TN, Chris Aven of Oxford, MS; four grandchildren, Haylen Hill, Harper Yates, Mia Mathews and Maci Mathews.

Along with his parents, Bo was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Mathews.
