Billy Joe Alexander, age 61, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was the husband of Jannie Alexander.
Services for Billy Joe will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 11:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery with Military Honors.
Billy Joe was born January 9, 1957 to the late Charles Edward Alexander and Margie Shirlene Walls Alexander. Billy Joe is previously from Lampasas, TX but has lived the last 30 years in Batesville. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was as a diesel mechanic. Billy Joe worked as a construction worker, heavy equipment operator and security guard. His life was highlighted by the birth of his children and his marriage to the love of his life, Jannie Ruth Dettor Alexander. Billy Joe was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
The loving family he leaves behind include his adoring wife, Jannie Ruth Dettor Alexander of Batesville; sons, Billy Alexander (Vanessa ) of Batesville, Chris Alexander (Malinda) also of Batesville, Jeremiah Alexander (Tory) of Oxford; daughters, Heather Alexander Purser (Levi) and Amanda Alexander Dalton (Nathan) both of Batesville; brothers, Jerry Alexander (Penny) of Bryan, TX., Charles Alexander of Jackson, Charles Alexander, Jr. (Heather) of Baytown, TX., and Calvin Walters of Batesville; sisters, Tammy Williams (Randy) and Wanda Alexander, both of Batesville, Lynn Utsey (David) of Fairfield, TX., Connie Flynn (Ron) of Clayton, MI.; 14 grandchildren, Maci, Brantley, Aaliyah, Liam, Caylee, Evyn, Bradyn, Hunter, Alyssa, Benito, Zach, Chris, Kevin and Alexis; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws that he loved very much.
