Billie Gene McCarty

Billie Gene "Fish Lady" McCarty, age 88, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018, at her home near Sardis, MS. 

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2018, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Union Cemetery in Sardis, MS. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. Monday afternoon prior to the service.

Billie was born November 25, 1930 to the late James William "J.W." and Jewel Bell Green. She was a retired factory worker, but most will remember her as a commercial fisherman who provided many people in the community with fish to eat. When was wasn't selling fish, she enjoyed quilting, making ceramics, flowers, and watching western movies.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Randy McCarty of Sardis, MS; daughter, Donna Gene Harrison of Dallas, TX.; five sons, Norris Shoemaker of Batesville, MS, Robert Shoemaker of Sardis, MS, Jerry Fellows of Baton Rouge, LA, Kenneth Fellows of Sardis, MS, Eddie Black of Sardis, MS; one sister, Mamie Nell Finger of Zapata, TX; twenty-six grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Billie was preceded in death by one son, Rickey Shoemaker.
