Betty Martin Matthews

Betty Jean Martin Matthews, age 78, passed away Thursday evening, June 14, 2018, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, MS. Betty was the widow of the late William Harold Matthews.

Funeral services for Ms. Matthews will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 2:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forrest Memorial Park. Mr. Hal Johnson and Mr. Doug Kimble will officiate.

Betty was born February 4, 1940 to the late Lance Martin and Gladys Young Martin in Batesville. Betty enjoyed taking care of her family during her lifetime. She was a member of Central Academy Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed karaoke, playing Rook, fishing and cooking.

The family she leaves behind include 2 daughters, Diane M. Coaten of Oxford, Cathy M. Kimble of Brookhaven; 1 son, Chris Matthews of Pontotoc; 1 sister, Carol Maughn of Grenada; 3 grandchildren, Bart Scruggs, Andrew Kimble, and Sarah Grace Coaten.
