Betty A. Rayburn

January 31, 1934 — February 20, 2020

In Loving Memory, Betty Ann Luttrell Russell-Rayburn, affectionately known as “Miss Betty” to many of her family and friends, passed away at the age of 86, Thursday evening, February 20, 2020 at the Brookdale Gainesville South West Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, FL.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS.  Visitation for family and friends will be at 12 Noon.

Betty was born on January 31, 1934 to the late Joshua Grant Luttrell and Mamie Weeks Luttrell in Crowder, MS and was raised of the Baptist faith.   She retired from the John W. Kyle State Park in Sardis, MS where she worked as the Park’s Hostess-Group Camp Coordinator and Kitchen Supervisor for the group camp meals. Betty had a special love for nature and animals. She enjoyed being outdoors whether she was gardening or working at the Park.  Betty was full of life and loved so deeply. “Miss Betty”, never met a stranger, always a friendly face and smile.

Always a delight to talk to, she had a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed sharing many stories of her life experiences.  

She was a wonderful Mom and taught Her Children how to “Live every moment, Laugh every day, and Love beyond words”.  Left behind to cherish her memory are her Children:  Richard D. Russell (Jutta) of Brunswick, GA; Victoria A. Dubose (Kent) of Bell, FL; and James K. Russell, III (June) of Charleston, MS

Also left behind are three Step-Children: Pam Queen (Billy) of Jackson, MS, Tami Robison (Mack) of Batesville, MS, and Stu Rayburn (Karla) of Waveland, MS

Two Sisters, Nellie Ramberg of Illinois and Sarah Swan of Georgia; Three Brothers, Alfie Luttrell of Kentucky, J.W. Luttrell and Wayne Luttrell both of Enid, MS 

Miss Betty (Grandma) had 12 Grandchildren: Richard D. Russell, Jr.; Jennifer Armstrong; Kelly McReynolds; Louis Lindy McReynolds, III; James K. Russell, IV; Shanna Ellis; Lauren Robison; Zack Robison; Joseph Queen, Elizabeth Queen, Jordan Rayburn, and Brooks Rayburn.  Also, 12 beautiful Great Grandchildren.
 
 
She is preceded in death by the Father of her 3 Children, James K. Russell, Jr. married in 1952 for 23 years, James passed away in 1976.

Burton Eugene Rayburn married in 1981 for 33 years, Gene passed away in 2014.

Also preceding her in death are her two Sisters: Georgia Gregg and Mary Turner; and one Brother, Thomas Luttrell.
