Betty Wells McGee, age 86, of Texarkana, Texas died Monday, September 10th, 2018.

Betty was born in Senatobia, Mississippi in 1932, and graduated from Senatobia High School. Soon after graduation, she met her love, Patrick Lindy McGee, and they were married in 1952. The McGees’ settled in Texarkana in 1956 where they were active members of First United Methodist Church of Texarkana, Arkansas, where they taught Sunday school together. Betty was a loyal member of the Junior League of Texarkana where she was awarded the Sustainer of the Year award in 1988. Betty was an avid bridge player.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. L.H. "Ding Hopper" Wells and Mrs. Mamie Kerr Wells, her sisters, Herma Lee Anderson and Dorothy Barker, and her brother Billy Wells.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tommy K. Wells and Dottie of Batesville, Mississippi; her two children and their spouses, daughter Linda McGee Schafer and husband Dennis of Texarkana, Texas, and son Patrick Lindy McGee, Jr., and wife Jennifer of Austin, Texas; as well as six grandchildren, Lindy Locke Page and husband Jameson of Nashville, Tennessee, Calley Lachowsky of Texarkana, Texas, Luke Schafer and Brooke of Fayetteville, Arkansas , Meredith McGee, Caroline McGee and Lindy Elizabeth McGee all of Austin, Texas.

A celebration of Mrs. McGee’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, with Rev. Jamie Alexander officiating.

A private entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park’s mausoleum.
