Barbara Onkst McCarley

Barbara Catherine Onkst McCarley, age 89, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020, at her home in Batesville, MS. Ms. McCarley was the widow of the late Harold Bell McCarley, Sr.

The family will have a private graveside service. 

Barbara was born on March 17, 1931 to the late Robert Monroe Onkst and Nora Catherine Eubanks Onkst in Panola County. She was retired from William H. Polk & Co. as an administrative assistant. Barbara was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and also taught Sunday school. Her favorite past time included sewing and reading. 

Barbara's memory will be cherished by the family she leaves behind. Survivors includes her children, Pam McCarley Llana of Batesville, Kay McCarley Johnson (Chuck) of Batesville, and Hal McCarley, Jr. (Laurie) of Madison; one brother, James Robert Onkst of Alabama; 5 grandchildren, Catherine McCarley, Mary Eliza McCarley, Dr. Chandler Llana Hawkins (Hunter), Schaefer Llana, and Matt Johnson. 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Charlie Ruth Cole and Jean Milam.
