Beverly Jane Perkins, 67 of Crystal Springs (formerly of Courtland, MS) went home to be with her Lord on September 1, 2018 in Booneville, MS.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends beginning at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service on Wednesday. The interment will follow the service at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. Beverly's pastor, Rev. Johnny Stewart, will be officiating the services.
She was born in Millington, TN on May 19, 1951 to Allen and Dorothy Wright. Beverly graduated from top of class at Purdue University with a BSN in nursing. She then relocated to Batesville, MS, where she began her career at Batesville Hospital and met her husband David Perkins. It was at that point they married and had two daughters, Delacy and Dottie. With her family started now, she continued her education and obtained her Master’s degree in nursing and pursued her calling of teaching. She began with the LPN program at NWCC and later became a Health Occupations instructor for Batesville Job Corp. She dedicated her life to educating and caring for others. She is well known for her love and compassion for her students and many former patients. She relocated to Crystal Springs Job Corp and work closely with the doctors on staff managing the health care for students until she fell ill in 2012; this forced her to retire but she continued teaching even with her caregivers. Even through a tough six years with her health failing, this didn’t stop her from ministering to the staff that cared for her and people she came in contact with daily. Beverly was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS, and she loved all her church family.
Beverly leaves behind her two children Delacy Matthews of Batesville, Dottie Potts (Chris) of Oxford, two Grandchildren Harleigh Matthews of Batesville, Landon Potts of Oxford, her mother Dorothy Wright of Oxford and her brother Ray Wright of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Perkins, her father Allen Wright and two grandchildren Michael Allen Smith and Daniel Ray Perkins.
