Arthur Lamar Martin

Arthur Lamar Martin, age 79, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS on August 25, 2022. He was the husband of Genevia Martin of Como.

There will be a memorial service held 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Como United Methodist Church in Como, MS. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon. Rev. Phillip Dearman and Rev. Milt Whatley will officiate.

Arthur was born September 12, 1942, the only son to the late Homer Lamar Martin and Bessie Mae Lemons Martin in Memphis, TN.  Arthur retired from Roadway Express after 30 years and found his passion in raising cattle. He team roped as a younger man. As an older gentleman he loved riding in the pasture and watching his heard. He enjoyed nothing more than the smell of his leather saddle and his horses. Arthur loved his God, his family and all the animals God created.

He leaves behind his wife Genevia Buchanon Martin of Como; one daughter, Barbara Jean Martin Hall (Randy) of Pontotoc, MS; one sister, Vickie Martin Turner (Roger) of Sardis; brother-in-law, Paul Wayne Autrey of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, William Tyler Holiday of Horn Lake, and Taylor Holiday Chase (Zach) of Denver, CO.

In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjean Milner and Deborah Autry.
