Anne Saxton Trusty

November 10, 1943 — March 23, 2022

Anne Saxton Trusty, age 78, formerly of Batesville, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022 at Heritage Health Care and Rehab in Tuscaloosa, AL.

A Memorial Service will held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Batesville, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow the service at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville.

Anne was born in Oxford, MS on November 10, 1943, one of three children, to the late William Herman Saxton and Annette McRaven Saxton. Anne graduated from Mississippi University for Women (formerly called the Mississippi State College for Women) in 1965 with a degree in Education. During her later years of teaching school, she obtained Special Education certification at the University of Mississippi. She taught at the Falcon School and at Horn Lake Middle School before retiring.

She was a lover of chocolate and coffee. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, going out to eat with her friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren, watching television mystery series, shopping at QVC, and attending church and the Explorer’s Bible study. Anne was a member of  Batesville First United Methodist Church most of her life before moving to Alabama to be closer to her daughter, Shannon. She was a lover of dogs, and she rescued several pets from the local area shelters over the years. She adopted a stray kitten who came to be known as “Tom.” She was very knowledgeable about the Bible and led Bible Study classes in the past. She was active in her community in her younger years, often baking goods for people and driving the elderly to tour the light displays during the Christmas season. Her friends described her as funny and a joy to be around. She was a caring mother to three children and three grandchildren, who knew her as “Mimi.” She is greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer Trusty Davidson of Brandon, MS and her husband, Stephen, Shannon Trusty Dufour of Northport, AL and her husband, Charles, and William E. Trusty, Jr.; sister, Olivia Saxton McGehee Schleicher of Nashville, TN and her husband, James; grandchildren, Jonathan Dufour and Caitlin Dufour of Northport, AL, and Joel Coker of Brandon, MS; former husband, Wendell Parks.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Ellen Saxton Haltom, and her husband, Robert “Bob” Haltom, husband, first husband and father of her children, William E. Trusty.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Health Care & Rehab for the care, respect, and dignity shown to our mother following her stroke.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Stroke Association, American Heart Association, ASPCA, or the charity of their choice.
