On November 20th, Andrew T. Johnson loving husband and devoted father to one, passed away at the age of 26 after a courageous hard fought battle with cancer at his home in Bartlett, TN.
A visitation will be Friday, November 26, 2021, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN. The family will welcome guests to a 2:00 P.M. funeral service at Faith Baptist Church on Saturday, November 27th. Andrew will be buried at a private graveside burial with family and close friends in Batesville, MS.
Andrew was born September 30, 1995 to Brian and Emily (Johnston) Johnson in Memphis, Tennessee. Andrew graduated from Arlington High School in 2014, going on to attend Southwest Community College where he obtained his EMT license later that year. While working as an EMT Andrew applied and became a reserve firefighter with the Germantown Fire Department fulfilling his childhood dream of being a firefighter. In August of 2017 Andrew returned to Southwest Community College to obtain his Paramedic license prior to getting hired as a full time Firefighter/ Paramedic with the Shelby County Fire Department where he served until his diagnosis in April of 2021.
Andrew met the love of his life, Maggie, in August of 2018 going on to be married September 17, 2020 in the Grand Canyon just outside of Las Vegas. Andrew and Maggie were blessed with one child, Beau Rawlings Johnson, born April 17, 2021. Andrew was a devote Christian with a passion for helping people. Andrew was known for his sense of humor, multiple nicknames, witty words and sarcastic responses. Andrew’s hobbies included golfing, traveling, spending time with family and friends, shooting, smoking cigars and grilling.
Andrew was preceded in death by 3 grandfathers Ret. Col James M. Johnston, Ray T. Johnson and William C. Campbell as well as one step brother Parker B. Mcgill.
Andrew leaves behind his loving wife Maggie and only child Beau of Bartlett, TN; parents Brian (Mary) Johnson of Bartlett, TN; Emily (Thomas) Stewart of Oakland, TN; mother in law Sherry Durham (Bill) of Batesville, MS; siblings Brittany Johnson of Memphis, TN; Amanda Chiarantona of Newport News, VA; Justin (Whitney, Jason and Jackson) Mcgill of Bartlett, TN; Megan Mcgill of Bartlett, TN; along with grandmothers Cindy (Alston) Johnston of Cordova, TN; Dorris (Coggins) Campbell of Lakeland, TN; and Ann (Bruce) D’hondt of Lakeland, TN as well as numerous loving cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers Andrew requests donations be made to the IAFF or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
