Sonny Jennings

Alfred "Sonny" Eugene Jennings, age 91, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, MS. 

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS.

Sonny was born February 9, 1929, in Vance, MS to the late Thomas Arthur and Opal Tabb Jennings. He was a graduate of Walnut High School. Following graduation, Sonny entered the U.S. Air Force and served four years. After serving in the Air Force, he moved and made his home in Batesville, MS.

Sonny worked as a radio communications engineer for WBLE Radio Station, owned and operated a T.V. repair shop and retired from Truckline Gas Company as communications engineer.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing and was a lifetime member of the Lake Charles Hunting Club. Sonny was also a licensed H.A.M. radio operator.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Shirley Jennings of Batesville, MS; daughter, Maryan George of Clarksdale, MS; two sons, Marc (Cathy) Jennings of Batesville, MS, Marshall (Angela) Jennings of Nancy, KY; step children, Kevin (Linda) Locke of Locke Station, Rhonda (Brad) Irwin of Courtland, MS; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
