Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Johnson will be buried with full military honors at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope, MS. Visiation will be on Monday, November 1, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
Harvey was born January 18, 1924 in Water Valley, Mississippi to the late Harvey & Daisy Walker Johnson. He went to high school at Pope School and served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Harvey did his apprenticeship for the electrical worker's union IBEW Local 349 in Miami, FL and became a lineman. He traveled the country working at different job sites for different companies and ended his career in Miami as a supervisor for a local Miami company. He loved the water and for many years owned his own boat and loved to fish, the waters of Mississipi for bass and Florida for both fresh and saltwater fish. Harvey helped build a catamaran and sailed it with a neighbor. He loved football, his Miami Dolphins, the Miami Hurricanes and of cource Ole Miss, and was a member of the Ft.Pierce chapter VFW. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Margaret, Louise, Pat and Kate; and half sister, Bertie Lee.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter and husband, Lynda Kay & Ron Bell of Miami, FL; his son and wife, Joel William & Patricia Johnson of Hobe Sound, FL; half brother, J. W. Lipe of Groveland, FL; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey Kunkel, Amanda Jean Johnson, William Joel Johnson, Brianna Lynn Johnson and Kyle Joseph Johnson; 2 great grandchildren, Payton Bell Kunkel & Declan James Kunkel.
