David Alston Vance

David Alston Vance, age 64, passed away Sunday morning, October 3, 2010 in Batesville, MS. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Melodie Jones Pointon presiding. Interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. David was born on August 21, 1946 in Batesville, MS to the late Louise McCaslin & Calvin Brooks Vance, III. He was a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church. Mr. Vance was a retired healthcare manager. David graduated from Batesville High School in 1964 and went on to Mississippi State University. While attending MSU he was a member of the Kappa Sig Fraternity. In 1969 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business and Industry. David was a avid Bulldog Club member. Mr. Vance's survivors include: his wife, Mary Tom Mills Vance, of Batesville, MS; daughter, Mary Brooke Vance Maier and husband, Darin, of Ridgeland, MS; son, David Windham Vance and wife, Sabina of Southington, CT; brother, Frank Hudson Vance; three grandchildren, Brooks Thomas Maier, Calvin Brooks Vance, V, and Jonathan David Vance. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Brooks Vance, IV. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Batesville Presbyterian Church, 121 Eureka St., Batesville, MS 38606.
