George Austin Chunn

DATELINE: Mobile, AL (formerly of Batesville, MS) George Austin Chunn, age 93, died Sunday morning 9/26/2010 at Norwood Point in Mobile, AL. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Forrest Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Robert Self officiating. Mr. Chunn will be laid to rest with full military honors. Mr. Chunn was born in Pleasant Ridge, MS on March 1, 1917 to Mattie Rakestraw & George Albert Chunn. He graduated from Center High School in Union County, MS. Mr. Chunn was a self employeed Cookie Distributor. He also served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and farming. While living in Batesville, he was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also a Mason. Mr. Chunn is survived by his daughter, Sandra Chunn Trussell of Mobile, AL; 2 sons, George Darrell Chunn of Austin, TX and Benny Chunn of Hattisburg, MS, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife, Elna Smith Chunn.
