Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home with Reverend E. K. Gordon officiating and Reverend Thomas Beard assisting. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home. Mrs. Duke was born May 16, 1940 in Panola County, MS to the late John Henry and Addie Mae White Beard. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Volney Shan Duke. Mrs. Duke is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Frederick of Courtland, MS; her sons, Charlie Shan Duke of Courtland, MS; and Johnny Mac Duke of Boliver, TN; brothers, J.W. Beard of Batesville, MS; Robert Beard of Batesville, MS and Thomas Beard of Mexico; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Albert Lee Beard, Daniel Beard, David Beard, Bobby Mitchell, William Carol Beard and William Earl Beard.
