Deloras Berkey

Deloras Berkey, age 67, passed away at Sardis Community Nursing Home, in Sardis, MS, on Tuesday evening, July 27, 2010. The family will be conducting their own private memorial service at a later date. Mrs. Berkey was born July 30, 1942 in Dallas, TX to the late Oscar Wesley & Sarah Anna Burleson Smith. She was of the Jewish Faith and preceded in death by her son, Joseph Michael Berkey & two brothers, Oscar R. Smith, Jr. and William Simpson. Mrs. Berkey worked in retail sales most of her working career along with her husband in Berkey Brothers Jewelers & Trust House in Oklahoma City, OK. She enjoyed raising her children, being with her family, interior decorating and had a great eye for art. She is survived by her son, Victor E. Berkey of Bethlehem, PA; sisters, Mary Hopkins of San Angelo, TX; Joyce Nell Hutson of Azel, TX; and Margaret Fields of Katy, TX; brothers, Marvin Shoemake (Renae) of Como, MS; and Raymond Smith of Como, MS; and 2 grandchildren.
