Click Here To View Video Memorial TributeWilliam Michael Downs, 32 years old, Panola County Deputy Sheriff, passed away Saturday morning, July 24, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the South Panola Jr. High School Auditorium with interment to follow in Eureka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 26, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home. Michael was born March 10, 1978 in Batesville, MS to William E. and Debbie Pittman Downs and was a member of Goodhope Baptist Church. Michael was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a loyal South Panola and Ole Miss football fan. While Michael was in high school, he served as a State Officer for the F.F.A. Deputy Sheriff Downs is survived by his parents, William E. and Debbie Pittman Downs of Batesville, MS; brother, Justin Downs and wife, Liz, of Batesville, MS; two nieces Lacey Beth and Morgan Downs both of Batesville, MS; grandmothers, Bettie Mills Pittman and Margie Darby of Batesville, MS. Michael was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, C.L. Pittman, Jr. and William Marvin Downs. Pallbearers will be Adam Waldrup, Barry Thompson, Brian Gitter, Roger Vanlandingham, Tyler Mills and Chuck Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Whitworth, Phillip Appleton, Tyler Pittman and Panola County Sheriff's Department.
