Harold L. "Bud" Rogers, age 78, died Wednesday morning, April 14, 2010, at the Veterans Home in Oxford, MS.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, April 16, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bobby Stewart officiating and Rev. Pat Ludlam assisting. Interment to follow in Forrest Park Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Mr. Rogers was born August 7, 1931 in Memphis, TN to the late Phillip La Verne and Annie Pauline Evans Rogers. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and retired after 35 years with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was the former owner of The Golf Shop in Memphis, TN and Batesville, MS. He was also an avid golfer, golf instructor and member of Panola Country Club. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Shelton Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Sara Austin Rogers of Batesville, MS; daughter, Paula Rogers Stewart of Sardis, MS; step daughters, Kim Austin Pointer of Batesville, MS and Billie Ann Austin Beard of Sardis, MS; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ben Flint, James Garrison, Jimmy Garrison, Monroe Pointer, Mike Mixon and Bryan Sullivant.
Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Avenue, Batesville, MS 38606.
