L.W. "Billy" Scruggs

L.W. "Billy" Scruggs age 85, husband of Alice Pauline Walters Scruggs, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville, MS. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday 2/2/2010 in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with Brother Doug Pepper and Reverend Jim Scruggs officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. Visitation will start at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday 2/2/2010 until service time at 1:00 p.m.. Billy was born January 27, 1925 in Sardis, Mississippi to Thomas "Jack" and Buena Vista Still Scruggs. Mr. Scruggs was retired from the U.S. Postal Service serving with 27 years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and served his counrty during WWII in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife Alice Pauline Walters Scruggs- Batesville, Ms.; Close Friend- Ron (Jonnie) Lundgren- Collierville, Tn.; Step-Daughter- Bonnie G. Land- Batesville, Ms.; 3 Ssiters- Sally Scruggs Rikard- Pope, Ms.; Gladys Scruggs Sparks- Oxford, Ms.; Margaret Scruggs Mehan- Senatobia, Ms.; 2 Brothers: James Robert Scruggs- Olive Branch, Ms.; Charles Edward Scruggs- Sardis, Ms.; Step-Granddaughter- Camille Garner- Batesville, Ms.; 2 Step Great- Grandchildren: Sloan Garner and Brame Garner Billy was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Tom and Jessie Lee Scruggs.
