Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home Batesville, MS with Rev. Eugene Howell, Rev. Dan Stroud and Rev. Don Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Town Cemetery, Batesville, MS.
Viola was born on August 17, 1919 in Tocowa, MS to William Henry and Nancy Layton Hood. She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Batesville, MS. Mrs. Russell was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and won many ribbons for quilts and cooking. She was also a member of the Curtis Union Quilting Club and she leaves the last living member of the club, Ella Milam of Curtis, MS. She loved gardening and growing flowers. She was very gracious in her charities showing Jesus Christ in her work. Mrs. Viola was a retired factory worker.
