The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church with Reverend Karen O'Brien officiating. The burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Gladney was the widow of Charles Harold Gladney. She was born in Panola County, Mississippi to Lillie Waldrup and Robert Wilkerson Scruggs on January 2, 1919. Mrs. Gladney was a homemaker. She was known for her beautiful smile and really different laugh. Cooking was a favorite hobby of hers and people especially enjoyed her carrot cake. Mrs. Gladney was a seamstress as well. She is survived by her daughter, Charlayne Gladney Lamb, of Batesville, MS and her son, Robert Harold Gladney of Batesville, MS; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Johnnie Scruggs Butler, Mazie Scruggs and Frances Paulk Bredemeier. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
