Click here to view Video Memorial TributeSue Hubbard McMinn age 62, wife of James R. McMinn, died Monday evening 11/16/2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi in Oxford, MS. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 20, 2009 at Pope Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Berry officiating and Rev. Roger Richards assisting. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home of Batesville, MS directing. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at Pope Baptist Church Friday. Mrs. McMinn was born November 21, 1946 in Pope, MS to the late Herman and Rosemary Kelley Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother, Billy Walton Hubbard. A native of Panola County and long-time resident of Pope, Sue devoted her life to her kindergarten students and her family. Sue's gentle spirit and loving patience endeared her to her students. She was a master of her teaching trade, a valued employee and colleague, and a loyal supporter of the Pope School and community. During her long tenure of teaching Sue was honored in 2000 as the Teacher of the Year at Pope Elementary School, District Teacher of the Year and the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year. A 21-year breast cancer survivor, Sue fought bravely and courageously and overcame many setbacks including a lymphoma diagnosis in 2007 and again in 2009. After rekindling a high school friendship at a Pope Baptist Church Homecoming in 2002, Sue married the love of her life and soul mate, James R. McMinn in 2003. Together they forged a bond of unconditional love and devotion that few achieve in a lifetime of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Jim McMinn of Pope, MS; daughter, Kelley Still of Pope, MS; brother, Herman Lee Hubbard,Jr. (Alice) of Batesville, MS; grandson, Tripp Still of Pope and four nephews. Memorials may be made to Pope Baptist Church, Pope, MS 38658; the American Cancer Society or the Chapel Hill Cemetery Fund.
