Video Memorial Tribute Thoughtfully Produced By: Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services Harold Rowsey “Mac” McCurdy age 78, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his residence in Batesville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2009 at First United Methodist Church - Batesville Batesville, MS with Rev. Pat Ludlam officiating. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park, Batesville, MS. Mr. Harold was born on July 4, 1931 in Pope, MS to William Grady and Margaret Rowsey McCurdy. He served his country in The United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville, MS where he served on many boards and committees. In years past he had been a member of the Raleigh United Methodist Church in Raleigh, TN. He was a supervisor with DuPont Chemicals and retired after 28 years. After retiring he became a full time Cattleman. Mr. McCurdy was a former President of Farm Bureau Federation and also served as a Board Member. Mr. McCurdy also was a former President, founding member and board member of the Panola County Cattlemen Association; and a Lifetime member of the FFA where he served as a former State Officer. Mr. Harold was the Chairman of the Love Joy Cemetery Fund. Mr. McCurdy’s farm was the Pilot farm of the IRM Program of Mississippi State University. The McCurdy family has proudly been in the cattle business for over 100 years. Mr. McCurdy was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Memphis, TN. Survivors include: Wife: Mary Ann Tyler McCurdy- Batesville, MS; 2 Daughters: Beverly McCurdy Manning (David)- Batesville, MS, Wendla McCurdy- New Orleans, LA; Sister: Cynthia McCurdy Bie (Cappy)- Indian Rocks Beach, FL; 4 Grandchildren: William Curtis Manning, Alanna Jo Manning, Cole McCurdy Branch, Tyler Daves Branch He was preceeded in death by his parents and one brother John William "J.W." McCurdy. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home.
