Lela V. Smith

Lela Smith, age 70, passed away at her home outside of Sledge MS on February 23, 2017. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge, MS., with visitation beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Looxahoma Cemetery. Reverend Roy Hartzell will officiate. Lela was born August 18, 1946 to the late Marion William Lawson and Lela Mae Hitt Lawson in Lawton, OK. She was a homemaker during her lifetime and a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and working with the WMU at Hollywood Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Andy Gail Smith of Sledge, her children; Leona Dean of Batesville, and Andy G. Smith, II of Senatobia, sisters; Wilma Lawson of Virginia, Althea of Lawton, OK., brothers; Michael Lawson and Thurman Lawson both of Lawton, OK., Marvin Lawson of Arizona, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lela is preceded in death by one son, Daniel Smith, one grandson, James Daniel Smith and one sister, Shirley Ward. Memorial contributions may be made in Lela's honor to the Brotherhood of Hollywood Baptist Church, 2020 Wadlington Rd. Sledge, MS 38670.
