James R. Childress

Video Memorial TributeMr. James R. "Crawdad" Childress, age 68, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN. on February 15, 2017.  Funeral services for Mr. Childress will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Reverend Cain Wheeler will officiate the service. James was born June 25, 1948 to the late George R. Childress and Addie L. Rodgers Childress in Marks, MS. James was a truck driver during his lifetime, working for nearly 30 years for Jimmy T. Wood Trucking. In his off time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on his lawn mower. Those he leaves behind to cherish his precious memory include his wife, Nan Childress of West Memphis, AR., his children; Shelly Moorman and Lisa Dobbins, both of Greenville, Dana Norton of Southaven, Debbie Coon of Milton, FL., Daniel Childress of Batesville, and Larry Vermillion of West Memphis, AR., sister; Enda Lewis of New Albany, brother; Dave L. Childress, Sr. of Shaw, 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
